I painted this while pregnant with my oldest child. Judaism teaches that while a child is in its mother’s womb, an angel teaches the fetus the entire Torah. In this piece, a heart envelopes the baby, which symbolizes the deep love between the child, mother, and G-d.
The hebrew verses express the first verse of the Torah which our babies learn in the womb, "in the begining G-d created the heaven and the earth". It also says the first line of the holy Tanya, where we reminded of the oat each soul takes before its embodied, to be rightous and not wicked.
May we always remember how deeply held in love we are.
